Former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has an anticipated return to cricket with Pakistan Champions in the second edition of the World Championship of Legends (WCL).
The Champions Trophy-winning captain was away from the international circuit of Pakistan since 2023, while his omission from the roster for the PSL 10 seems to suggest that his time in the local circuit may well be ending. The WCL is rather suited to give Sarfaraz Ahmed an opportunity to showcase his talent. The competition is an opportunity for fans to see even some nostalgia and yet competitive cricket as the big guns are back to relive their glorious days on the field.
The past WCL lived up to the dream final with India beating Pakistan. Now with Sarfaraz Ahmed in the lineup, there will be taken no chances with Pakistan Champions trying to right their wrong in the next season.
The second edition is set to take place from July 18 and will feature cricket legends from six countries:
- Pakistan
- India
- England
- Australia
- South Africa
- West Indies
The inauguration of the tournament has Pakistan Champions vs. England Champions at Edgbaston. But once again, all eyes will be on the India-Pakistan match on July 20, at Edgbaston. Knockout matches are due on July 31, with the grand final on August 2; Sarfarz Ahmed holding up the National Championship could very well be an X-factor for Pakistan Champions in trying to snatch the title this time around.
