Sindh Declares Public Holiday for Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar’s Urs

To observe the Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, the Sindh government has declared February 19th a public holiday.

A notice issued by the Department of Services, General Administration, and Coordination stated that all government and semi government agencies and schools shall be closed on that day.

Thousands of followers from all over the nation are expected to flock to the yearly Urs of the respected Sufi saint. February 17 was made a public holiday in Jamshoro by the district government in preparation of the big meeting.

To handle the masses of visitors, government buildings, schools, and community organizations in Sehwan stayed closed. To guarantee safety throughout the ceremonies, the Sindh government has put in place a very detailed safety strategy.

More than 5,000 police officers—including special units from the Counterterrorism Department, Bomb Disposal Squad, and Rapid Response Force—have been dispatched in and about Sehwan. Additionally, official have taken extra steps to handle crowd control and offer emergency help.

Among the most big spiritual gatherings, the Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar attracts followers who come to pay their respects and engage in religious practices.
