• Lawyer alleges that parliamentary leaders denied party founder in meeting for months
• jailed leader protests after Ramazan—all take offense at judges complaint about military courts, threaten civil strife nationwide
• Party will suspend lawmakers who absent from voting for 26th amendment
ISLAMABAD: The PTI is going to proceed to the Islamabad High Court on Monday against restrictions on its parliament leaders to get a meeting with party founder Imran Khan at Adiala jail.
The PTI counsel who has visiting rights to see Mr Khan said the parliamentary party leaders have been denied a visit with Imran Khan for nearly five months.
According to SOPs, Mr Khan receives his family members and lawyers on Tuesday and the party leadership on Thursday.”
He also provides names of six leaders for the meeting, but during the past five months, the jail administration never let them see him,” asserted the lawyer. He added, “We had no choice but to move an IHC petition. A case will be filed on Monday (today).”
When reminded that the government had recently organized several meetings between Imran Khan and the negotiation committee apart from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur who meets him regularly, Faisal Chaudhry stated that the negotiating committee meeting was organized by the government.
Regarding CM Gandapur, he stated that his name was not given to him by the party founder, and further added that Mr Khan must be permitted to meet six parliamentary leaders, whose names were given by him, weekly.
Imran takes exception to judge‘s remarks
In a post on ‘X‘, the former prime minister condemned Supreme Court Judge Musarrat Hilali for her statement in which she argued that the PTI had also endorsed the military courts and that they were set up.
The judges should refrain from making any decisions or remarks before hearing both sides, he said, pointing out that a commission to probe the May 9 incidents had not been formed and even the CCTV footage had disappeared.
He
declared that the PTI will develop a strategy in coordination with all opposition parties to initiate a countrywide protest movement post-Ramazan. He stated that he had also directed his negotiation committee to increase efforts for the “restoration of the Constitution and democracy“.
He
complained that all institutions of the country were being controlled by unseen hands. He complained that even Adiala jail was being managed by a ‘colonel‘ who did not abide by law and jail rules.
The PTI sources said that the former ruling party on Sunday went to JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and assured him that the PTI would stand by him if he initiated a campaign for the removal of the government.
Expulsion of additional leaders
Electronic media reports on Sunday said that Imran Khan had made up his mind to expel the lawmakers who had missed the parliament session in which the 26th Constitutional Amendment was approved.
The names
that were being considered included senators Faisal Saleem and Zarqa Suhrawardy and MNAs Aurangzeb Khichi, Miqdad Ali Khan, Zain Qureshi, Riaz Fatyana, and Aslam Ghumman. A PTI leader, who wished not to be named, said that while Imran Khan had initially directed the expulsion of the leaders, the decision could be withdrawn.
It will be discussed in the next meeting with Khan sahab, including the fact that they bypassed the voting process. Additionally, he will be informed that there will be no gain in expelling those legislators because they will still be lawmakers,” the party leader stated.
He added that the party had already committed a mistake by expelling firebrand MNA Sher Afzal Marwat.
