Outside a bank in Afghanistan, police say a suicide bomber kills five

Police reported that a suicide bomber destroyed five people, including Taliban security personnel, on Tuesday in an explosion outside a bank in northern Afghanistan.

The capital of Kunduz province, Kunduz, saw seven more people hurt in the raid aimed at a line of people waiting to get their wages from a bank.
Kunduz province police spokesperson Jumadin Khaksar said, “A suicide bomber with improvised explosive devices will blow himself up.”

Among the killed were civilians, civil servants, and Taliban security members, he noted.

The Kunduz Province Police Command is collaborating with appropriates agencies to locate the perpetrators of the event and bring them to justice.”

An assault declared by the regional offshoot of Islamic State (IS) happened last year in March when a suicide bomber detonated a bomb in front of a Kandahar southern municipal bank, resulting in the death of at least three people.

Tuesday’s assault had no instant claim of accountability.
Since the Taliban ceased their insurgency following their takeover in August 2021, toppling the US-backed government, the number of bomb explosions and suicide strikes in Afghanistan has significantly fallen.

Still, a few armed groups including IS present a danger.
