The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Friday passed a joint resolution after which it has voiced its opposition to the military action in Khyber and Bannu based areas.
It was introduced in the House of Representatives by MPA Abdul Ghani of Treasury Benches and Adnan Khan from opposition Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl during a session under Chairmanship of Speaker Swati Babar saleem
It stated the military operation was not going to resolve issues, and several other operations prior have not manifested betterment.
The resolution called for talks on settling differences.
Calling for dialogue as solution movants
Assembly resolution urged the provincial govt to convey message to federal govt not to take any military action in Tirah, Bakakhel and Janikhel otherwise poor people will lose their shelter” read.
It said that the people, specially children; women and elderly people would not be able to cope after displacement due to military operation.
The presiding officer told the house it should debate if this potential military muscle-flexing would normalize the law and order problem, or drive “anarchy” in the area.
The previous military operations, he had said, have never turned out in favour and if elected representatives of people oppose such actions but institutions go ahead it would have bad consequences and erode trust.
Kundi, a member of opposition party Pakistan People’s Party, urged the following that ”the Use of Force only exacerbates the situation especially in KP, the dynamics are totally different all round.
He suggested every other day in the house should debate if prior military operations reached their ends and who the armed men was that were brought back.
As part of same calling out “corrupted party/persons” inside political churches and establishments, Mr Kundi said
JUI-F candidate Adnan Khan also raised concern over deteriorating law and order in the province, said violence would turn to wherever it exists.
