Hamid Mir Pakistani Journalist

Hamid Mir is a Pakistani journalist, anchor, and author. Born on 23 July 1966 in Lahore. He belongs to a journalist family background, Mir Hassan started her carrier as a journalist in PK Newspaper and hosted Capital Talk Show on GEO NEWS.  “SocioONPakistan National Social media and Business network have named them in their list of Top 100 Journalists in Pakistan.

He was awarded Hilal-i-Imtiaz for his work in 2006. Mr. Mir Hassan was awarded FPA (Free Press Award) in 2017.

Personal Life:

He completed his SE from GCMS (government central model school) Lahore. He completed his intermediate from Government College of science and his BA from Government College.

He completed his MA in Mass Communications from Punjab University.

He loves cricket and playing as well but left due to the sudden death of his father.

Family:

He belongs to a journalist family. His grandfather Mir Abdul Aziz from Sialkot. His father was also a columnist for Jang News.

His father lost her family during migration from Jammu Kashmir to Pakistan in 1947 after the independence 1947.

Her brother was killed in front of her eyes by Hindu rioters. And her mother was kidnapped and she saved her life by hiding under her own relatives dead bodies.

Career:

He joined Daily Jang News in 1987 and work as a reporter, sub-editor, writer and edition in charge in 1990. In 1996 he became the editor of Daily Pakistan in Islamabad.

And he is the youngest editor of any national Urdu newspaper in the history of Pakistan.

On December 25, 1997, he launched daily ausaf as a founder editor.

He went to Afghanistan in December 2011 for Usama Bin Laden interview and he has done her job well.

He Joined GEO News in 2002 as a host of talk show.

In December 2011,  Mir received death threats after when he hosted shows on the influence of ISI. He reportedly left GEO and on 10 August 2018 he joined GNN NEWS as a president.

  • In 2013 he received “Friend of Liberation War Honor”
